Biography
Chris Rakunas is a native of the Los Angeles, California area. He went to school at UC Berkeley, where he studied Molecular and Cell Biology. He moved back to Los Angeles to attend business school at USC's Marshall School of Business where he was on the Dean's List.
After a long career in healthcare, he and his wife, Darcey, moved to western Oklahoma. Chris Rakunas was the winner of the Silver award at the Dearborn Street Book Festival in 2012.
Tears for the Mountain is Rakunas' first book. It is a non-fiction about a medical mission trip to Haiti in 2010 after the earthquake there. The book reached #1 in Amazon's Kindle Store for Social Policy books. A portion of the proceeds from the book benefit New Life Children's Home, the orphanage in Port-au-Prince where the book is based.
Rakunas is currently writing the Alex Guidry series. The first book, The 8th Doll, is a fast-paced thriller that centers around a murder investigation in the Yucatan that is tied in with the 2012 apocalyptic prophecy. The second book in the series, The Eye of Siam, continues following the main characters in The 8th Doll.
